James McLemore post on our tartan & name history

It was with great sadness that I found James had passed.
On Jan 10, 2007 he posted a reply to a question about our tartan which is well worth reading (forum #1077)as it gives the origins of our name as well as identifying the correct tartan to wear. Even if you don't have all the in-betweens worked out if you are a McLemore of any of the various spellings this is how your name got started. Unlike all the Smiths, Clarks (clerk), and other names that originated from a job, ours originated in a title. It is REQUIRED reading if you are truly intersted in your ancestry.
