There are numurous coincidences in our two records. I feel you have found the correct McLin family. Your reply also supports my guess that William E. McLin is the father of GW McLin. Thanks for your reply.

GW McLin is listed in the Gibson County, Tennessee 1880 Census as a farm laborer living at Possum Pond, civil dist 24, page 375. The listing inculded his wife Josephine and my grandmother Martha. This record indicates that GW McLin's father and mother were born in Tennessee. There seems to be an older William E. McLin with a wife Harriett living on the east coast that could be conflicting information.

Other notes I remember being told by my grandmother are her folks had owned the land around the mammoth cave in Ky. Family names associated with family-- Throckmorton, Snell, Moore.
