Finally, I am having a response about my ancester Adrian McLin. I have traced Adrian to NewBern, Al. going about 1840. Newbern, Al., is located in Perry County. He came from New Bern, N.C. about the same time you indicated as his birth, 1810/1812. The census of 1870 lists his place of birth as Virginia. There was a Thomas McLin family in New Bern, N.C. the father was Charles. There was a plantation with slaves as well as a town house with household slaves. I don't have the exact location of the plantation, but I have seen land records also wills of Charles and his wife in which slaves were being left to various family members.
This is just a thumbnail sketch of the information I have researched. I have also hit some forks in the road, especially pertaining to Virginia. I would love to hear from you and share what we have found.
I anxioulsy await hearing from you.
