My McMakin/ McMackin's were in NC then Carroll Co. TN and were cousins of the McMACKINS in Hickman Co. TN it is thought. So I don't research Michael other than having him listed as a son of James Alexander McMackin Sr. and wife Barbara Myers. Some have James Alexander McMackin under different spellings etc. Michael McMackin married Patsy Rogers and some think she is the sister to the William Rogers of Hickman Co. TN but as I had stated to many in past, she could just as easily be a sister to my own William L. Rogers of Carroll Co. TN or any other Rogers out of NC into TN. So Patsy Rogers is not verified as yet as to which Rogers group she was in.

I have several Harris surnames listed in my data base who are in the JORDAN/ HICKS lines of Montgomery Co. NC to Hickman and McNairy Co's TN. I have no idea if they are related to the HARRIS you mentioned being Zephaniah H. Harris but do know that the Hickman Co. TN Deed books listed a ZACHARIAH HARRIS, and Zachariah is a given name in our Rogers as well, so it was common given name in that region of Montgomery/ Anson and other counties nearby there in NC.

ZACARIAH HARRIS of Hickman Co. TN has following deeds :

HICKMAN Co. TN Deed Books A - G Dec. 1807 - March 1835 -
Image 402 -- Page 224 -- Dated : 08/02/1813 -- Registered : 07/11/1823 -- ZACHARIAH HARRIS of Hickman Co. TN to EDWARD LAID of Hickman Co. TN -- $200.00 -- 80 Acres --on the head of Hales Creek, bordering Johnson's corner and being a tract granted to ZACHARIAH HARRIS -- Witnessed by ISAIAH HUTCHESON, ELIZABETH BOOTHE -- ( Old Deed Book F, Page 53 ).

Image 196 -- Page 113 -- Dated : 08/21/1811 - Registered: 03/18/1813 -- State of Tennessee Land Grant No. 3338 to ZACHARIAH HARRIS, assignee of the heirs of EDWARD ROBERSON -- 100 Acres -- In District 1 of the head waters of Haleys Creek of Duck River including where said HARRIS lives -- Surveyed 08/25/1808 by Asa Shute -- ( Old Deed Book B, Pages 118 - 119 ).

Another interesting deed is that of SARAH STANFIELD (STANFILL ) of Hickman Co. TN in which she gave her grandchildren land and they are named as :

POLLY S. HARRIS,
SALLY M. HARRIS,
JOHN O. HARRIS,
CLABOURN HARRIS,
STEPHEN J. HARRIS,
ELIZABETH JANE HARRIS,
ALLICE W. HARRIS, and
MARGARET R. HARRIS of Hickman Co. TN

This DEED of GIFT by SARAH STANFIELD to her HARRIS grandchildren was dated 07/14/1829 and registered on 04/19/1830 in Hickman Co. TN. This was a deed of gift of 50 acres on the south side of Duck River being the southern end of a grant issued to John C. McLemore and John Davis for 97 acres ( GRANT No. 18802 ) beginning on the military line and the southwest corner of John C. McLemore which includes the mouth of Swan River and bordering the west line of 97 acre tract in the name of McLemore and Davis, and was witnessed by William B. Reeves, James Edwin and in old Deed Book G, page 121.

( NOTE that ZACHARIAH HARRIS was listed living In District 1 of the head waters of Haleys Creek of Duck River including where said HARRIS lives --)

So with that bit of info if this is your line you could look up the lands listed to see if they were living near one another then.

Tina
