This to may help you a bit more on the McMackin Family.
When I was in Stanly Co. NC library at Albermarle and looked through our ROGERS files there I found notes by unknown researcher quoting files from Mrs. McCUBBINS records ( those records are also in Carroll Co. TN files at Gordon Browning Museum and Genealogy Library I think ).
The notes quoting McCUBBINS files are :
From Mrs. McCUBBINS RECORDS :
Bk. 37 -- page 256 -- Dec. 29th, 1794 :
JOHN ROGERS & wife SILVEY of Mecklenburg Co. NC, let JAMES McMACKIN of CABARRUS CO. NC have 100 acres of land on LONG CREEK, next to George Hoffner for 40 pounds.Wit :WILLIAM RODGERS & MICHAEL McMACKIN.
As you probably know MICHAEL McMACKIN married PATSY ROGERS and they are found on the 1810 Montgomery Co. NC Census living next to my WILLIAM L. ROGERS ( thought to be the WILLIAM RODGERS listed in 1794 record above perhaps with JAMES McMACKIN and son MICHAEL McMACKIN who md. PATSY ROGERS ).
We know from Montgomery Co. NC land deed entriesof our ROGERS that they owned land along LONG CREEK, RILES CREEK, and CURL TAIL CREEK all situated in Montgomery Co. NC.We also see ANDREW MCMACKIN and wife NANCY ROGERS are next to JOHN ROGERS in the 1810 Montgomery Co. NC Census, and it is believed JOHN is the brother to my WILLIAM L. ROGERS who lived next to MICHAEL McMACKIN and wife PATSYROGERS in 1810 Montgomery Co. NC.We know both MICHAEL and ANDREW MCMACKIN are sons of JAMES McMACKIN and wife BARBARA MYERS / MOYERS.I have JAMES McMACKIN listed in my files per McMACKIN descendants as JAMES ALEXANDER McMACKIN Sr. b. 1747 Rowan Co. NC.
We also know that my JAMES ROGERS the father to William L. Rogers and brother JOHN ROGERS also entered his land along LONG CREEK in Rowan co. NC on same day he entered the rest of his lands along Long Creek in Montgomery Co. NC.We know from their land deeds and other records however, that our ROGERS lived in a housealong LONG CREEK in Montgomery Co. NC and so the rest of their land may have been in Rowan co. NC as well but not where the house then stood which wasin Montgomery Co. NC and also where the McMACKINS lived probably having taken ownership of the land given them by John and Silvey Rogers of Mecklenburg Co. NC.We don't yet know the connections of John and Silvey Rogers to our JAMES ROGERS Jr. and his sons William L. Rogers and John Rogers, but now feel that both NANCY ROGERS and PATSY ROGERS who married the McMACKIN brothers and lived next door to our ROGERS in Montgomery Co. NC in 1810, were probably daughters of our JAMES ROGERS, Jr. who possibly lived with his son WILLIAM ROGERS on the 1810 Montgomery Co. NC census. All these men were listed with first intials in the 1810 Montgomery Co. NC Census, so you will file our Rogers under W. Rogers, J. Rogers, and Z. Rogers, while you will find the McMackins under A. MACKINS ( next to John Rogers ) and M. McMeckin ( next to my W. Rogers ) on that 1810 Montgomery Co. NC Census.
Later we also see that these same MCMACKINS are said to be in Carroll Co. TN and have census data, as well as being found to be buried in old McMACKIN cemeteries on private land in that county.I haven't seen these cemeteries but know others have.
If I recall correctly, NANCY ROGERS McMACKINS is listed widowed then in Carroll Co. TN later on.
We know that NANCY ROGERS and ANDREW McMACKIN had several children and we believe one was a daughter named SUSAN McMACKIN who married our JOSHUA ALEXANDER GRAY ROGERS in Carroll Co. TN in 1847.
