Howdy All!

Here is another form of the name McMickell. The story that is told in my family is that several brothers came from Ireland defected from the British Navy, which they had been involuntarily drafted to whilst coming from a pub and when they arrived here the went AWOL and changed their names slightly each a little differently. One kept the original McMaheal.

Another story that float around in the family is that a couple of them originally changed their names alike, but both men fell in love with the same woman (some say an "indian princess" some say a slave and the one who lost out changed the spelling of the name and vowed never to have contact with the other again.

Don't you just love the old stories! They get taller with each generation, which makes it hard to back track, but the stories are great to pass on!

Thanks,

Lovia (McMickell) Larkin
