Town of Jasper, pgs 436-437:
"Gideon Marlatt, from New Jersey, settled on the Dr. Hunter farm, west of Jasper four corners, about 1811. His wife was Mary VanDerlip, by whom he had a large family. Many of his descendants are yet living in this and adjacent towns.
Uzal McMindes and family moved from the town of Freehold, Monmouth county, N.J., and arrived in this town February 22, 1810. Mr. MacMindes married Mary Marlatt, February 5, 1800. Eleven children were born to them, six boys and five girls. Ten grew to manhood and womanhood, and married as follows: William, to Olive M. Tubbs; Gideon, to Polly Cady; Ellen, to James Wood; John, to Marry Freeland; Ann, to David Freeland; Jane, to Eli Barnard; Phoebe, to Henry Freeland; Hiram, to Olive A. Woodward; Chester A., to Sarah A. Edwards; and Sophronia, to John Crotsumsburg. These all settled in the town of Jasper after their marriage. Jasper, the youngest child, died at the age of three years. Mr. McMindes lived to the age of ninty-two years. But two of his children are njow loving, namely: Hiram and Chester A. Eli and Jane (McMindes) Barnard had three children: Mary D., Horace P., and John H., all of whom are residents of this town.
John, son of Uzal McMindes, married Mary, daughter of Abraham Freeland. Children: Albert; Emily; Susan; Jeannette; Amanda; Betsy, and alva. The latter married Flora, daughter of Hiram Burger, March 23, 1878. The children born to them are John, January 18, 1879; Almon, September 1, 1881; Lyman, May 10, 1886."
