This is a quote from my friend, Fr. Vincent McMurry.Posted by Joe [email protected]
My father's name was Vincent dePaul McMurry, Sr. My mother was Augusta Barbara Carolina (Delaigre) McMurry. My father had TEN siblings: Leo, Eva, Emma, Charles, Johnny, Margaret Mary (Greta) (married a Vaughn), Calista, Eugene, James, Ammon. Daddy was the youngest, born on January 13, 1895. John Gilbert was born about 1853 and died in 1934, when I was ten. My grandmother died in 1895, shortly after the birth of my father; she was 37 with eleven children. Grandpa outlived eight of them. My grandfather had brothers named Alec and Henry and a sister named Alice. One of Alec's children married a man named Wright. All lived in Sumner County until some of the children moved into Nashville. I knew two of them: John Edward and Presley, who both worked for the railroad; I believe the RR was the Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis, but it may have been the Louisville and Nashville. VMcM
