Susanne, known commonly as Ann McMurtrey married Hezekiah Hargrave and they lived in Logan County, Kentucky in 1800. According to a statement given by a woman known as Hannah Hargrave and later as Hannah. Ann Birney---she, a mulatto/black woman, was the daughter of Ann McMurtrey Hargrave. Hezekiah Hargrave apprenticed Hannah to William England on February 9, 1786 for a term of 31 years. This apprenticeship was transferred by England to John Birney, who finally assigned Hannah to his father William Birney. Hannah then came to the Ouachita are of Louisiana with the Birneys at some point prior to 1815. On March 19, 1915 Hannah appeared in court and claimed that she was the free-born daughter of a white woman Ann Hargrave.

Does anyone have any information on Ann McMurtrey Hargrave---this probably secret daughter Hannah--or have any information on Hannah after 1815?
