I have a Peter McQuaid who came to the US in 1848 and located in New York City. He relocated to Nemaha County, north of Seneca, Kansas ten years later, (1858). The History of Kansas states that Peter McQuaid was a self-educated man and became the Register of Deeds. He lived 10-12 miles North of Seneca, and walked to and from work every day. Peter married Elizabeth Draney on Nov 17, 1865 at St Benedict, Nemaha, Kansas, which is about 5 or 6 miles north of Seneca. In Joe McGinty's findings he states that Elizabeth Draney came to Kansas in 1879 from Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. Could it have been in 1859? [1879 is some 14 yrs after she wed Peter at St Benedict.] They had 10 children and Peter Jr was born in 1871, he was the third of 10.
