Thanks for your comments. I agree with your conclusion. Their ages in subsequent census records are also very inconsitent. I have the idea that they gave their age as whatever they thought the person asking for it wanted to hear. Or whatever they thought would be to their advantage.
Their children were:
Rosanna "Rose", b. 1862, Calif.
Andrew, b. 1864, Calif.
Mary, b. 1866, Calif.
Thomas "Tom", b. 1868, Calif.
Anne, b. 1869, Calif.
Alice "Allie", b. 1871, Colorado
Michael "Mike", b. 1871, Colorado (twin)
Margaret "Maggie", b. 1872, Colorado
I have lots of documentation of their stay in Calif. and Colorado but nothing, other than the Marriage Certif., of their life in Mass. It is said that they arrived about 1850 but I have a feeling, based on the marriage record, that it was closer to 1860.
Any help would be appreciated.
