Arthur McQuade is my wife's great-grandfather. Nick Flood Davin made one small error -- Arthur was never a teacher. However, story has it that while an MP he was a drinking buddy of Old Sir John A.
A. E. Richards.
FYI - Arthur came at age 17 with widowed mother and several siblings via New York State and settled in Emily Township, Ont. He was born in Lisnabuntry townland, near Virginia, Cavan, Northern Ireland. I have an extensive family tree if anybody's interested. Also, some cousins came over later and I am in touch with people researching them also. Haven't been able to trace Arthur's parents back farther though.
