From the New Brunswick Courier, Sep 1, 1875:
"Captain James McQuaid--Southern Steamboatman, died New Orleans on the 18th inst. Captain McQuade went on the river in 1842 and had command of some of the best boats in the southern trade. Captains Charles McQuaid and Hugh McQuaid, well known steamboatmen, were his brothers. He leaves a wife and two daughters. Captain McQuaid was a nephew of Charles McQuaid of St. Andrew's Parish, Charlotte County [New Brunswick].
