my ancestor, John McQuaid, was the first cousin of Bishop McQuaid. John was born 1837 the bishop in 1809. John's father, William McQuaid, was a younger brother to Bishop McQuaid's father, Bernard McQuaid. Spelling interchanged with MCQUADE and MCQUAID many times, both same family though. This family was probably from Tyrone, Ireland, if not Tyrone, than Monaghan, Ireland. I got an e-mail not to long ago from a Chris McQuade who is also related to the bishop, we are looking for distant cousins by posting that we are related to the Bishop. We are trying to find more on this line. William also had these siblings: James and MaryAnn McQuaid. We think William had a brother, John, not sure yet. Hoping to hear more from you....
