sorry ran out of space.
William born 1849 took over Sixpence and died there in 1929.
On the 1901 census Thomas was 20 and lodging in Girvan and working as a apprentice mason. I can't find any trace of James so if one of the family went to Canada it cound well have been him, quite a lot of the McQuakers went to Canada in the 1800's. I don't know what happened to Elizabeth and Mary as I havn't managed to trace them. The trouble is the McQuakers tended to intermarry and i gets very confusing. I am not a descendant of your William. My William was born in Colmonell in 1822 to William McQuaker and Elizabeth Wallace. I have come to the conclusion that most of the McQuakers in Ayrshire are related in some way. I have 4 death certs but I can't attach them without a e-mail address.
regards
jean
