For the record, William A. McQuatters was not born in 1838...his tombstone says 1828 and in the 1850 census of SC, his age was listed as 12....so 1828 is correct year...his father was James McQuatters born 1812...they were in So. Carolina (Fairfield Co.) for years, then moved to Louisiana about 1854 where the wife, Martha Haigood McQuatters, died in the first year...they lived in Caldwell Parish, La. before they moved on to Ellis Co., Texas by 1870...James died there in 1878 ..buried in the Mountain Peak Cemetery, Ellis Co., TX.....as is William A. and his young daughter, Ruth who died at a very young age...William A. 's civil war photo is posted on the Ellis Co. Tx website...
