My ancester Henry McShane was born about 1811 in Ballynadrentagh, Townland, Antrim Ireland. Henry had a brother Hugh. There were other McShane's as well, Charles, Sarah, James, John and Mary on the 1851 UK Census. My McShane's migrated to Airdrie Scotland and Catherine McShane married Dennis Brogan.

As far as I can tell from my research, the McShane's all were Farmers and Weavers in Ireland. When the great famine hit they migrated over to Scotland.
