Hi Trudy, I saw your post and thought I'd answer. My great great grandmother was Catherine McShane Brogan. Catherine had several siblings including a sister Margaret. Catherine was born a little later than your Margaret in 1826. She was the last child I believe. Her sister Margaret was born in 1815, according to my records but I could be wrong. The family migrated to Scotland from Armagh Ireland, and settled first in County Ayr and then onward to Linlithgowshire, Bathgate Scotland. Their mother's name was Mary Cornille (which I believe is french), and their father was Henry McShane who was a carter.

My Catherine McShane married Dennis Brogan of Donegal Ireland. They lived in Airdrie later on and had 15 children. Margarat born 1847, an son whose name I do not have, Henry born 1853, my great grandmother Mary born 1852, James, Catherine (who died young), Susan, Patrick, Frances and her twin also called Catherine (who also died young), yet another Catherine, Helen (who died young), William Henry, Helen and James.

Catherine McShane Brogan died December 20, 1901 at Darngaval Poorhouse.

Mary McShane married John Johnston and immigrated to the US and settled in Curwensville, Pennsylvania.

Maureen
