Marie,
My Michael McShane was born in 1864 in Ireland. He came to the US at a relatively young age. His death certificate lists his father as John McShane with no name for the mother. I have gotten his son Robert's social security number and have sent for his original application. I am hoping that it will provide me with a great deal of information. Michael died at 54 and is buried at St. Nicholas RC Cemetery in Lodi, NJ 973-779-7272. Their records are all computerized and they have many McShanes buried there. St. Nick's was a popular RC church in Passaic and the cemetery is in Lodi. You should definitely call them. I have to believe that our McShanes are somehow related. You should also join the Clan McShane in NJ, it has a newsletter that is fabulous. I will be in touch as I get more info.
Dennis
