Updated info

Jerimiah McSweeney married Nellie Ring, both from Ireland. They had a son named Eugene Owen McSweeney. Eugene, born between 1828 & 1835 married Mary Green -Fimoig or Fenwick born in the 1830's. The 1900 census showed they had 9 children, however, only 2 were living at the time of the census. They moved to England prior to 1857 and were there during the 1861 census. They then immigrated to the Canada in 1868 settling in Ontario as listed ont he 1871 Canada census. They ended up in Sterlingville Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. The three children living during the 1880 census were James, John and Richard. Richard died in 1885 and is buried in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. James' family kept the Mc on McSweeney. John's descendants dropped the Mc. Both brothers started families of their own and became farmers. Other children of Eugene Owen McSweeney and Mary (Green) McSweeney were Dennis, Mary and Patricia. Apparently Dennis and Patricia died before coming to the U.S. and Richard and Mary died before reaching adulthood.

I'd like to do more research in Ireland, however, I am not completely clear on when exactly they left Ireland and from which County. Family stories indicate Eugene and Mary were from County Cork. They were married around 1860. James and John were born in England in 1860 & 1863 respectively, so Eugene & Mary must have left Ireland prior to that. If you have any information on this family, please contact me. If my contact email does not work, try

I have other completed family trees for the following surnames O'Rourke, Goudreau, Morrow, Arnott, Gray.
