I have read that McSWEENEY has experienced a number of spelling variations through the years. So, you may want to check out the following page :

Every 2 years they have a week-long clan reunion at Doe Castle in Donegal, Ireland. It is widely attended by many descendants throughout the world. Apparently this is the place of origin of all those that carry the SWEENEY name.
