I have a Thomas W. McVeety( McVitty, McViety, McVittie etc ) who was born July 25, 1854 in Elmsley Township, Lanark County, Ontario and died in Donnybrook, North Dakota. His parents were David McVeety and Elizabeth Fraser and his grandparents were Thomas Henry McVeety and Catherine McLean of County Cavan, Ulster, Ireland. This Irish line of McVeetys was mostly in Lanark County and Bruce County, Ontario. There was also a Scottish line of McVetys in Ontario. The name is spelled many different ways so it is confusing to try and keep the families straight.
