Susan's first husband's name was Angus McVicar. He was no relation to Duncan, although Duncan joked that if they looked back far enough, they might find they were 42nd cousins or something. Angus and Susan had two children before he died -- John and Anna. Both of them moved to Detroit as adults and John edited a newspaper in the Detroit area. Anna married a man named Armour. I was always told that neither of them had any children, but I was told that my great-grandmother was the only McVicar child with progeny, and that has since proved untrue as one of her sisters has living descendants in upstate New York.

Does any of this sound familiar?

G.E. Colpitts
