Central New York McVoys
My ancestors came from Ireland in the 1840s and 1850s and settled in a little town called Otisco, New York (not far from Syracuse.) Three (possibly four) brothers came over, some with families over about a six or eight year period. My great-great grandfather was Dennis McVoy, his wife was Mary Ryder. He had a brother, Robert, whose wife's name was Hannorah. A third brother was named James. Robert settled in Marcellus, NY. I don't know what became of James. A possible fourth brother named Thomas settled in Cortland, NY. Family tradition says they came from Kilkenny, but I have had no success finding any of them in Irish records for the parishes around there. If anyone knows ANYTHING about this line, I would love to hear from you.
