Information on McWhinney Family

I am looking to find information on my families history. My great grandfather Thomas McWhinney came to America I believe around 1920 from Belfast, Ireland. He lived, had a family, and is buried in Canton, Ohio. I am interested in any information anyone might have on the family history.

I am also looking into the family tartan, crest, etc. From what I have gathered there is no McWhinney tartan and that the family is a sept from either MacKenzie, MacSweeney, Or Buchanan. I am a bagpiper and would like to wear my families tartan, but have been unable to find what that would be. Any information would be truly helpful.
