Hello, Bob. In reviewing your post, I note that we descend from the same John, then James. My line then follows through James' son, Samuel. Our spelling has been Mewhinney rather than Mc. Also, our immigration date is 1791. However, we all know that this sort of research can produce errors. I have tried to search for the 1791 immigration date as well as for the 1782-3, but with no success. Also, one of our family historians has stated that the name was changed from Mc to Me. Can you enlighten me? If you have more conclusive proof than I do (or don't, as the case may be), I will very much appreciate your sharing with me. Thank you in advance, Marilyn Mewhinney Rushing
