hello, My name is Cayla Ellenberger and I have recently started to research my grandmother's side of the family. Her maiden name was Whinnie. Through her telling of family history and my own research I found out that our name was actually McWhinney. It was changed upon the arrival into the united states. The farthest back i could go was to Francis McWhinney. All i know about him is that he was born in Scotland probably around 1850ish. He married a woman named Mary Ann Stewart on 26 June 1874 in Shotts Lanark Scotland. We were told that my family may also have been part Native American but whether that was on my grandfather or my grandmother's side I do not know. If those two names sound familiar at all I would appreciate any information you have. Thank you. ~Cayla
