For DeWitts in Garrett Co., MD, who would like to participate in the DeWitt Family Tree DNA project.
I'd like for everyone to invest in the Y-DNA37: 37 Markers Test. It is more expensive, but might help in the long run and doing this DeWitt Family Tree project. You can buy other kits that have a combination of tests that include the Y-DNA test. See http://www.familytreedna.com/products.html We can get a group rate, so the tests are probably going to be cheaper.
DeWitt Family Tree
Participants so far are (Hope no minds me posting this):
1. Becky DeWitt - I'll get my brother; I can trace my DeWitt ancestors back to Preston County, WV, through documentation and to Southwestern PA through other research; Spelled their name DeWitte; Father Ezekiel DeWitt/Son Peter DeWitt.
2. Tom DeWitt - WV/OH DeWitts; Amos DeWitt
3. Kevin DeWitt - Ohio DeWitts (where some of the DeWitts have been confused in the past with literature and manuscripts); Haven't been about to contact Kevin, Does anyone know his current e-mail address?
4. Mark DeWitt - WV/Garrett County, MD DeWitts (part of my line)
5. Don DeWitt - WV DeWitts; John DeWitt; www.bergen.org/ACADEMY/Bio/DEWITT/DeWittAncestry.html#JohnDeWitt
6. Martha DeWitt Nakajima/Linda DeWitt Huey/Ward DeWitt - will get the men in their family to participate; Martin DeWitt; VA/SC DeWitts; There is a DeWitt/Martin in my family, but no apparent connection to this family.
7. PA DeWitts - Southwestern or Mid Southern; I'd like to get some DeWiits from PA or who can trace their ancestors back to PA to participate.
8. Also, would like to get Katherine Gassaway's family from TX
9. Also, would like to get some of the New England DeWitts to participate.
10. Also, get a DeWitt from Holland maybe to do some of the Ethnic/Mitochondrial DNA tests
