Hi Colleen,
I went to the Garrett Co Historical Society today and looked up William Wilton Ashby (1744-1803).
There was nothing on him for that information you provided.
However, I did find some reference to a William Wilton Ashby, who made his will in 1803. He was married to a Sarah Williams. The Ashby's and the William's came from Frederick Co, MD. (Source: Hoye's Pioneer Families of Garrett Co. Compiled by the Garrett Co. Historical Society.)
William W Ashby, b. June 26, 1809 - d. June 30, 1902 was married to a Helen M. Thayer, b. Feb 23, 1823 - d. Jun 23, 1913. (Source: Marylands Garrett County Graves, Compiled by the Youghiogheny Glades Chapter)
I went to the Underwood Cemetery today and took pictures of William and Sarah's gravestone and the church there.
Directions to the Underwood Cemtery is from I-68, take 219S, Right on Rt 39, Left on 2nd Street (one block away), Left on Water Street, Right on Underwood Road and it's 4.9 miles down the road. The cemetery is on your left and the church is beyond that on your right.
