Frederick,
I ended up here on another search but would like to tell you what I know. I contacted the National archives thru email with a question about someone joining the Revolutionary War at the age of 13-15. They told me that the American forces were not a unified or organized system, and that men of all ages joined, particularly in the local militias. So yes someone around that age range could very well have served. If you already know this by now, sorry for the repeat information.
