I am seeking information on ancestors Derrick and Gertrude Springsteen who moved from NY to DE in the early 1700s. Family information says they moved to St. Jones Neck, Kent, on the Delaware. I am uncertain as to whether this is Kent County, DE or Kent County, MD.
Their son John Springs, Sr. and wife Sophie Gassaway of Anne Arundel County, MD had six children born in Jones Neck between 1745 and 1761. NOTE THAT THE NAMED CHANGED FROM SPRINGSTEEN TO SPRINGS. They were of a Dutch family that came to NY in the 1650s. They were landowners in NY, so I would expect them to be in Kent County as well. They were members of the Anglican Church. They moved from Jones Neck, first to Lancaster, PA and in 1768 to Mecklenburg County, NC where the line continues. ANY HELP, OF ANY KIND, WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. Mary
