I am looking for information on Sarah Ridley, born Maryland, 1779, and William J Greer (aka Green) born 1775 in either Maryland or Ireland. They were married in Sweden Borgen Church in Baltimore, Sept 1800. The church is now known as New Jerusalem and the original church record of the marriage survives. William and Sarah moved to Ohio after marriage.
Major pieces of the puzzle, which are of greatest interest at this point, are the parents of either of the young people and whether William was the immigrant who came from Ireland (and was therefore born there) or whether it was a generation or more removed to find the 'pioneer.' If Sarah was born in 1779, her parents almost have to have been in the right age range to have fought for one side or the other in the Revolution. John Ridley is listed as a Rev War soldier who ended in Ohio at the end of the war. Might he have been the father of Sarah? Could the entire family have moved west? Do you have any information that might help me move past this dead end? My email is mhuff@charter.net if that is more convenient and you can put Greer/Ridley or Sarah Ridley or any subject title of that sort to get immediate attention. I hope we have information to help each other.
I am new to requesting help from Genealogy forums, and if I have overstepped in some way, I am always willing to learn.
