Hello, I may be the 1st person to post on this family name, but here goes! My GrGrGrGr (4) Grandfather was Thomas Keibard born abt 1750, from SCOTLAND. He emmigrated to America in about 1765, I think. I am told he was born in Scotland. He lived in Somerset Co MD and then moved to Charles Co MD., and died there by June of 1811, - as that is when his will was probated. Interesting to note is that his surname was spelled 3 different ways in one document, his last will & testament. His wife was named Margaret Beale. His grandparents in Scotland first names were Thomas & Constance Keibeard/Kybard/Kibard.... *(I have decided not to be hung up on how the spelling of the last name goes on this family line of mine) Anyways, he had a brother, John who lived in Charles county MD also. In 1778 in Somerset Co MD they both took the "Oath of Allegiance" to the Revolutionary cause. They were members of the Episcopal church and I found their names in a rcord keeping book from the 1700s wherein they kept track of taxes on tobacco owed to the Crown. (sorry didnt record the reference ) Thomas had 4 children I know of, a son and three daughters. Does anyone recognize this family???? Notify Administrator about this message?
