Lewis: The Mecham/Ruddock link is that Lt (later Col.) John Russell Mecham married Martha Wild Ruddach (aka Ruddock) Wimbledon, Surrey,3 Jun 1869. They had 2 issue: Lt Arthur Russell Mecham 1870 and Mary Mecham 1872.
Gortnahoon was the property of Col.Patrick Burke (1763-1845), a descendant of the MacHubert Burke line of Galway.
His sister married George Mecham of Athlone. When Patrick Burke died he left Gortnahoon to his sister's son, also named George Mecham (Capt 3rd Dragoon Guards). The John Russell Mecham mentioned above was a son of this latter George Mecham, who died 1866 and willed his extensive property interests in Ireland and elsewhere to his children. John Russell Mecham apparently inherited Gortnahoon. When he married Martha Ruddach, he had her included in the title deed in a marriage settlement.

Martha Wild Ruddach was dau of Capt Robert Steuart Ruddach and Jemima Hannah Hoffman married 1828. Capt Ruddach was son of Capt Alexander Ruddach RN.
