Hi there,

If you ever find out who the grandfathers patents were then let me know and I will see if I have any inf. on them as I have some bits of census inf. on Mearns families that lived in Glasgow around 1851-1861. There were a few Mearns families that lived in Anderston,Glasgow in Richard Street and Bothwell Street, the children that were not born in Glasgow were born in Ayrshire or Ireland according to the census. All the best with your search.

Regards,
Bill
