My Mary Mearns was born in Sunderland I have the entry for her on the 1891 Census after she was married to John Mathews, but I cant find her on the 1881 Census. This really is a brick wall for me.On her marriage Cert it states that her father was William Mearns Doctor of Medicine. I have tried to find him on the 1881 Census but cant find him either, there is only one William Mearns Doctor of Medicine on the 1881 but he is too young to be my Marys father.
If anyone can shed any light on this I would be most grateful.
