My uncle (deceased)of Appling county was named James Dewey (Buddy) Medders. While living in Brunswick, Ga. in the 1950's, he changed the spelling of his name to Meadows. He also changed his children' name to Meadows.
I have found since then that a lot of Medders has changed their name to Meadows. I never could figure why.
