Dear Ken

I have come across the surname MEECH in my family tree. I have been researching the surname GOVIER. A Martha GOVIER married a James MEECH in 1850 at Beaminster. As far as I know James was born about 1825 in Mosterton, Dorset. James and Martha's children (that I know about) were:

Alfred James, bap.25 Dec 1860, Bettiscombe (VRI says Pilsdon)
Robert, bap. 2 Aug 1863, Stoke Abbott
Elizabeth Ann, bap. 2 March 1867, Stoke Abbott
John Way, circa 1870, Pilsdon
Richard William, circa 1871, Pilsdon
George Henry, bap. 7 Feb 1875, Stoke Abbott

James was an agricultural labourer. He died 13 Dec 1911, age 86. Living at the same address as James and Martha MEECH in 1891 were Alice Maud Vickery MEECH, age 4, granddaughter, born Stoke Abbott, and Thomas MEECH, age 50, mason, born Beaminster - possibly James' brother?

Hope the above may be of interest to you.
Beryl Baker
