My brickwall continues--suggestions, please
I successfully traced my great, great grandfather, Daniel Meehan, and his three younger sons, James, Andrew and Patrick to Carrownaboll, Skreen & Dromard, County Sligo, Ireland, between 1852 and 1858.However, the County Sligo Heritage and Genealogy Centre has no documentary record of Daniel’s marriage, or of the births/baptisms of his three older sons, John in 1843, Daniel (my great grandfather) in 1845, and Charles in 1848).Either they lived in a part of County Sligo during a time for which written records were not kept of have not been maintained, or they moved to County Sligo from somewhere else.
I next submitted my research inquiry to the County Leitrim Genealogy Centre.Likewise that Centre has no documentary record of a Meehan family with a father named Daniel and three sons John in 1843, Daniel in 1845, and Charles in 1848.
I have not yet found any naturalization records for either my gggf or my ggf (the entire family came to Pennsylvania at different times between 1863 and 1870).However, I’m not sure that will help.Such records for ancestors in another family line from the 1870s and 1880s merely note that they came to the US from Ireland, without any mention of any baroney, county, parish, town or townland.
So, if any one has any suggestions how I might get through this brickwall, I’d appreciate receiving them.
Thanks,
Robby
