Meek, Blevins, Jones, Standrige
I am interested in the family of Squire Black Blevins. He is in Carroll Co. ar in 1840, 50, 60, and probably to his death. He may have married Catherine JOnes in 1873 after his first wife Rhoda Standridge died.Rhoda Standridge is the daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Standridge.Squire's birthplace in 1850 according to the census was Ky.In 1860 his birthplace is given as N. C.Rhoda Blevins birthplace is Ga.Squire was traveling with the STandridges, Jones, Meek, and other Blevins families from Tenn to Ill. to Mo. and then down to Ar. by 1832.I think he is a brother to Margaret Standridge who married Lemuel Standridge.I do not see how he can be a son of Richard Blevins born betw. 1790-1800.Richard had a son called Squire White Blevins. This Squire was born about 1814. He had several wives and moved to Tx. by 1860.Rhoda Standridge has a sister in Carroll Co. 1850 and60 married to James Jones.James is a brother to the two Jones Women (Betsy and Mary)who Richard Blevins is said to have married.James is a brother to John Jones of Newton Co ar 1850.I do think John jones wife...Hulafire or Alspain or whatever her name was... was Alspain Blevins...she too says she was born in Ky. I ahve just started researching these standridge sisters and their husbands.I think i have found a third sister Lidia Margaret Standridge Langstons. Her husband was Noah Langston. She is in Carroll co Ar. in the early 1830s.Noah is dead and she is in Milam Tx. in 1850.Her daughter Rhoda married Moses Meek slightly before 1850.Rhoda was Moses's second wife and about 16 when she married this older man.Moses was killed and scalped by Indians in 1852, Tx.
Moses is the son of Jeremiah Meek and Betsy Blevins and a brother to Jeremiah Meek born 1815 and in Newton Co. 1850.Jacob Blue Meek married Sallie Blevins and her sister Elizabeth married Jeremiah Meek.
They also had a sister who married a Roberts. This family has ties to
Elizabeth Ellender Roberts who is living with the John Jones Family of Newton County ar.1850.Elizabeth e. married John L. Brassfield.
Alspain Blevins Jones may have been married to a Roberts before she married John Jones. The early jones family is said to consist of old
Thomas Jones who was living with the Cherokees in 1817.He is said to have had sons James, JOhn, Drury, David, and a Cherokee wife.James Jones was born in S. c. about 1790. That is where alexander STandridge was at that time.Any information about these families I would love to hear.Especially how Squire Blacks fits into the Blevins family.I do not think Richard had two Squires and Squire Black is too old to be his son. There is an Isham Blevins in Carroll County also.I wonder if Richard had a brother named James K. Blevins.
Thanks to anyone who can add to the information about these intertwined families...Betty Renfroe granddaughter of Ada Standridge Renfroe, who was granddaughter of Lem and Peggy Blevins STandridge
