I wanted you to see the reply below I made to someone else and we can go further now.
Mitchell, I know Mom said we were related but I haven't done much research, but I did go to school with one in OH and I didn't have a clue then.
Wilson's? Oh yeah, back to late 1700 is the first I know married a aunt, rather than list her, I'll say she wasn't a Newell but the soundex of Neal. My ggg-grandparent's were Neal's/O'Neall/O'Neal/O'Neill/Neely/etc...
Anyway his name was Thomas Henderson Wilson, I don't know his father, but he is the first on my list. I haven't had the information long, so I can't remember all the surnames related to him.
As you will see below, I have Bird/etc even the German spellings. I too, went to school with a couple of them. Mom gave me only surnames and I have lists of them and am beginning to find so many. No given names, dates, or locations to go with any of them.
What you mention as Newell and Meers/Mears connection is my Neal/Marrs/Mars/Myers/Myers/Maier. I just thought I would look at Meers for some reason in my surfing and I think I hit a jack pot looking at all of your messages.
Now here is a special treat. Check out this following site, remember some of my spellings, and you just might find more of yours.
Yesterday, I decided to give up on the genealogy, it was getting to be more than I could handle. So I have a favor to ask of all you that may benefit from this, but first let me explain.
Nine years I had and Have a brain injury. I have come back a far way learning even to speak again. I have short term memory loss and find myself searching for things I am beginning to find I have already done. In other words, I am spinning my wheels. My long term memory is fine, but my cognitive skills are poor. If anyone has watched ER on TV that is the same problem I am having. I was so shocked they had it on there and yet happy too. I have a site done for someone else that gives sources for those in need for brain injuries and also my story of my long trip to where I am now. I am 58 and so want to be able to leave family notes for my children and grandchildren. http://pub10.ezboard.com/bbettysgarden just go to the site and click on Bettys Garden for my story.
Back to the main thing. Should any of you find family connections through my information, please send it to me too. If it isn't too long, please do a copy and paste as I have received 3 messages in the last week or two with attachments with a virus. The names of those under the names they sent didn't send them, but it appeared to have been. I don't know how they got my info, but hackers know so much. One family member sent me a message right after I got one that thank goodness my virus detector wouldn't let me open. I'm saying I'm afraid to open attachments now.
The site is http://www.barnum.org/surnames.htm remember to use possible variations of spelling of the names that you search.
I fear this is too long so I will wait for a reply to give you more.
I'm not asking anyone here to believe me, but this is what I have found.
Rasmussen and Rasbottom were changed to Robinson, my ggg-grandfather is Samuel Robinson and I found one in NY and have been told he was known for being a ship builder. Let me quote you from part of my partial family Bible.
Samuel and Elizabeth Robinson had Eliza Robinson b 1818-1881, I know have have the name of her spouse. Yes, I will share, but let's go further right now, I am trying to show a connection.
Dorsey is the maiden name of my gg-grandmothe, Rhoda Dorsey b 1826 m 1844 in Shelby Co, OH per LDS. Check it out!!!
I don't know much about the Bearden/Bryden, but believe that comes from my Bird/Burd/Byrd/Fogle/Vogel connection. So far, I can show connection to these families as one,
Your Jorganson, I believe to be my Jenson, but have not yet connected or researched them.
Did you have Meers? That connects to one of the above also. Soundex or what you might call a name spellling variation.
Crowley, may be my g-grandmother Crowder, another soundex change.
I have fogotten the other names you searched, so I will just ask if you are interested?
