My name is Ralph Davidson Megee, III (called Dave). I am a direct descendent of John Megee (b: 1740, d: 1813) of Indian River Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware. · John Megee (b: 1740, d: 1813); Ann Megee (d: 1789) · William Megee (b: 1775, d: 1837); Sarah Ennis (b: ~1790, d: 1820) · Moses Megee (b: 1819, d: 1888); · William Henry Megee (b: 1837, d: 1919) · Ralph Davidson Megee (b: 1885, d: 1936) · Ralph Davidson Megee, Jr. (b: 1908, d: 1990) · Ralph Davidson Megee, III (b: 1942) My branch of the Megee family has its American roots in Maryland – in what is now called Delaware. I am able to trace my family back to John Megee (b: 1740, d: 1813) with certainty. I have data on two prior generations [Peter Megee (b: ~1711, d: ~1766), and another John Megee (b: ~1675, d: 1729) – although he was a Magee], but this data is not fully confirmed. · Many of the Megees stayed in Delaware, Pennsylvania or New Jersey, but some migrated to other parts of the US. In fact, there are many stories that the siblings of the three people listed above went south and west after the Revolutionary War. I have not been able to find any of these people. · Many of the Megees were involved in the shipping industry, either sailing or construction. During the late 1800's, several were Captains of large ocean-going vessels. Milton, Delaware was one of the centers most often mentioned in the Megee family shipping history. I am looking for people with more information on members of this family. Dave Megee August 9, 2000
