Dear Larry,
Sorry about the delay in returning your message. Better late than never. I am Larry Mehegan (with a silent H) from Melbourne Australia.
I am third generation australian.
I am in the process of determining where exactly in Ireland or UK my great grandfather and grandmother came from. the immigration index paper I have located, states that Robert and Hannah Mehegan (again with the H) came out on the vessel "Boanerges" in 1857.
I have the original photo of Hughie Mehegan the boxer and I will email it to you separately because I am not sure how to scan a photo in to the forum. The family resemblance is strong throughout all the men in the mehegan family. Please let me know if you get the photo.
I gather that you are from USA but, which part of the states are you from?
