Hi Larry,
I was reading your message and saw your reference to George Mehegan. I am also tracing the Mehegan name and have my line back to around 1800 in Manchester, England. I know that some of my ancestor's siblings went on to Australia as well as the U.S. (mine came to Canada). I have also found some Mehegans around London, England and I know that the line originates in Ireland but I am stuck in England.
All of my Mehegan great grandfathers etc. have the name of George or George William. The George that came to Canada around 1905 was born in 1865 and his brother was named John. Their father, George,(parents - George and Ann Lingott)was born around 1832 and was married to Maria Ferns. He had brothers named John and James.
If any of this fits into your info., please let me know. Thanks, Gail
