Hi Moira,
I just read your last posting re the family in Australia. I am researching the Mehegan family in England, Ireland and America and your mention of the name Eugene was very interesting.

It seems that the eldest son was called Eugene (my husband and son are both Eugene). My husband's uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather were also called Eugene. Many of the relatives in America and in Ireland also are called Eugene.
Whereabouts in Co. Cork did your family originate from?

Irene
