My Mom's Aunt Tressie Koch was the older sister to my grandmother, Dorothy Mae Meier)Carmean. I have researched this family extensively. My Great Grandfather, Ferdinand Meier was born June 14, 1863 in Schtscherbakowka, Russia (This Family was, and lived, as German). He had been conscripted into the Russian Army, Music Division for about 8 years prior to coming to US. Came to America in 1891 with first wife, Katharina (Stricker) Meier and their two kids, Katie Meier (later Adams) and Karl and settled in Marion County, KS. Katharina died in April 1892 in Lehigh, Marion County KS. This family was Lutheran. Ferdinand then married Amelia Weis on May 22,1892 (family was Mennonite) in Lehigh and they had 16 children. They were in on the Great Land Rush into the Oklahoma Territory in 1892 and settled on a piece of land near Enid, OK. Then later moved on to near Tangier, Woodward County, OK, then to Des Moines, Union County, New Mexico and then to Gate, Beaver County, OK. Ferdinand died on Jan. 8, 1938 and is buried next to his parents in Gnadenfeld Cemetery, south of Tangier in Woodward County, OK. I will attempt to e-mail you family group sheets that I have compiled. Bob Anderson
