dear paula,i hope that this is a case of"better late than not at all".i found a reference to your family name in the 1851 griffiths valuation,co. cork.it states that a william meagan rented/leased a townland called scart from a henry bennett,who may have been acting in behalf of a lord kinsale?this piece of property is located in the parish of clontead?my parish map calls it clonthead.it is located in the harbor of kinsale bay.i hope that this may prove of some use to you.good luck,good hunting,jim mehigan
