Ted, acharde,Ithink that you can scratch the Mehigan, etc.surnamefrom your long list of Variants.According to Rod O,Donoghue, the founder of the O,Donoghue Society we are listed in the Book of Munster in the guise of a genealogical poem written by Cathan O,Duinnin(an O,Donoghue bard)in 1320A.D.(Verse 161)in which he states,Ceinte had a son:Crocharan.Ciocharan had three sons:Eoghan, from whom Ui Eoghain;Agha, from whom flows UiAgha;and Maothagan, from whom the Muintir Mhaothagain(Family Mehigan)flows. He says that we come from Eoghanachta Raithlenn,Laoghaire(Learys People)The Meehans/Meighans are said to be Eoghanachta Caisil(cashel)Would you be kind enough to let Bob Meehan of GA know of this development. Thanks,Slainte,Jim
