I believe that Bertha Meinholdt was the sister of my grandfather. Their parents were John George Meinholdt and Wilhelmina Muntzig. They were married on December 3, 1868 in Pottowatomie County, Kansas. He was 37 years old and she was 27 years old when they married. Wilhelmina Muntzig had been married to Henry Herbic. They had two sons. One of the sons was named Martin. The other son, Johnny, died at age 4. Her first husband did not return from the Civil War and she obtained a divorce. She married John Meinholdt after that. They first lived near Louisville, Kansas. In 1878, they purchased 160 acres north of McFarland, Kansas.
They had six children. Mary was born in 1869 and married George Schreier. Wilhelmina Elizabeth (nickname - Minnie) was born in 1871 and married Adolph Springer. Elizabeth was born in 1873 and married to Oscar Vandevort. Christian was born in 1878. He died at age 24 and was never married. Bertha was born is 1880 at the farm near McFarland and married Peter Picolet. My grandfather, Charles, was born in 1882 and married Rose Kugler.
John Meinholdt was the son of Caspar Meinholdt of Theben, Germany and Mary Hoffman Meinholdt of Stohndorf, Germany. He came to this country in 1852 with a group of German settlers. Wilhelmina Muntzig was born in Wurtenberg, Germany in 1841 and came to this country with her family when she was 12 years old. Her parents were John Phillip Muntzig and Margaret Hannaman Muntzig.
I hope this helps your search. I visited the farm near McFarland many times before my grandmother died.
