Looking for any information on the families of Jose Dolores Mejia (Megia, Mexia)and his wife Tiburcia Buela. According to the information I have, Jose, Tiburcia and most of their children were born in Mocorito Sinaloa. I understand that the Buelna's were a famous and well known family in the area butI have not been able to tie my Tiburcia Buelna to this Buelna line. One of Jose and Tiburcia's children was Pascasio Mejia (my great-grandfather), who married Maria Dorotea Perez. Pascacio and Dorotea made their way, with their children to Topolob(v)ambo, sometime before the war broke out. According to a story I was told by my grandmother, they were in Topolobampo when the ship Tampico was being bombed int he harbor. My grandmother told me that her mother Dorotea died during childbearth (age abt 35 years)in Topolobampo. After Dorotea's death Pascasio made his way, with most of his children, to Los Angeles, California,(abt 1918) where he died 1922. His daughter, Mercedes (my grandmother) remained in Topolobampo where she and my Grandfather had their first child. They then moved on to Hermosillo and Empalme giving birth to four other children along the way. One of their daughters died in Hermosillo at the age of two (presumably from eating bad oysters). Eventually Mercedest made her way to the US abt 1922 followed by Jesus a year later.
